Work out the price including VAT from the price excluding VAT, or the other way round. Pick the rate (21% is the standard rate) and see the base, the VAT and the total.
VAT formulas and rates
To add VAT: price incl. VAT = price excl. VAT × (1 + rate ÷ 100). To remove VAT: price excl. VAT = price incl. VAT ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). The VAT is the difference between the two.
In Romania the standard VAT rate is 21% from 1 August 2025. There is also a reduced rate of 11% (the former 9% and 5% rates were merged into it from 1 August 2025) for certain goods and services, and some transactions are exempt or zero-rated. Check which rate applies to your product or service before issuing an invoice. Results are indicative and do not replace advice from an accountant or lawyer, or checking the legislation.
